Irlen, a colourful life

WHY DO THE WORDS COME ALIVE WHEN READING?

Just imagine if the words also jump over to the other page leaving the first page blank…and then you see them on the floor or the wall or window!  All this time you’re trying to read the words because they come back to the page in between.

I’ve been testing so many people lately with these kinds of Irlen symptoms.
People who love books but find them so hard to read, as the print moves and jumps around.  Adults too who over many years have found ways to control small areas of print so they just need to look at that little area – which takes them so…long to read.

Then add to that the effect of fluorescent lights!

Fluorescent lighting and other bright lighting can further increase symptoms, causing people to be either hyperactive or have such sore eyes they feel like they’ll burst!

Lighting in places can severely restrict what some people would love to do…if you’re competing in inside sports and the room is lit up with many fluorescent lights, you probably won’t perform as well as you could.
You may need to work in a mall or shop that has very bright lighting – you may not be able to last very long in that job.  You probably avoid these places if you can!

Irlen – Where The Science of Colour Transforms Lives…
Gives hope, as the words will stay in place.
Learning will be so much easier and the bright/fluorescent lighting will be filtered so you’ll feel calm to cope with your job or to learn new sport skills and learn at school.

For some people print can look like this below…as if it’s moving over the page

Then with an Irlen overlay, if you have Irlen Syndrome, the print can become still and readable, depending on the colour overlay the person needs  - there are 10 colours, today I’ve only used two of these.
